Matt Allwright has agreed to be part of my forthcoming fundraising book for the Beating Bowel Cancer charity. The television presenter and journalist is known for hosting programmes such as Watchdog and The Saturday Show. Matt went to the same school as me, and we share some mutual friends, so it will be really interesting reminiscing as well as finding out a little more about his successful media career.
The aim of the book, as well as its fundraising, is to raise awareness about bowel cancer. It is the second highest cancer killer in the UK, but is treatable in over 90% of cases if detected early. Talking about our bowels and bowel movements etc is still a subject that many of us don't want to do, but if we can break down these barriers many more lives could be saved. We all need to be more aware of the symptoms...
My Mum was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2012 and fought it for over 4 years before sadly passing away in August 2016. Please look at my fundraising website for the items I am currently selling to raise funds.
